🕊️ Tribute to Maherin Chowdhury — A True Hero in Education

Maherin Chowdhury

On July 21, 2025, Bangladesh witnessed a tragedy that shook the nation — a military jet crash at Milestone School and College, Uttara. But amid the flames and panic, one woman stood tall with unmatched bravery and compassion: Maherin Chowdhury, a beloved teacher.

👩‍🏫 Who Was Maherin Chowdhury?

  • Senior English teacher and academic coordinator at Milestone School & College
  • Originally from Joldhaka, Nilphamari
  • Mother of two sons: Ayan Rohid Miyad (O-Level) and Adil Rohid Mahib (Class 9)
  • She dreamed of improving education in her home village

🔥 Her Ultimate Sacrifice

As the school building caught fire after the crash, Maherin Chowdhury fearlessly re-entered her classroom multiple times to rescue students trapped inside.

  • 💔 Severely burned
  • 💔 Smoke all around
  • Still she said: "They are my children too..."

Allah (SWT), by her means, saved at least 20 young lives that day. Truly, life belongs to Allah alone, but He made her a means of mercy.

🕋 A Reflection from Faith

We believe that life and death are in Allah’s hands. But He sometimes chooses blessed people as the reason behind the protection of others. Maherin Chowdhury was such a person.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala grant her the highest place in Jannatul Ferdous and accept her sacrifice as martyrdom (Shahada).

🧕 An Inspiration to All Educators

Her story teaches us:

  • ✅ Teaching is an Amanah (Trust)
  • ✅ It’s not just a job, it’s a responsibility
  • ✅ In times of need, a teacher can become a hero

📣 What Can We Learn?

  • 💠 Honor your teachers
  • 💠 Share her story with your children and students
  • 💠 Support families of educators who sacrifice for others
A teacher who walked through fire to save others... A mother who loved not only her own sons but every child around her... A woman whose bravery echoed louder than the flames.

May her soul rest in eternal peace. We will never forget you, Maherin Chowdhury.
